Team Bury was formed in 2005, then under the name of West Suffolk College FC. The team made up of students from the West Suffolk College Sports Academy were elected into Division Two of the Kent Blaxill Essex and Suffolk Border League Division Two.
In its inaugural season the team were promoted having achieved runners up spot in the Essex and Suffolk Border League Division Two behind Champions Brightlingsea Regent.
The following season the team went one better and they were crowned champions of Division One. The top two places were reversed from the previous season with Brightlingsea Regent runners up.
At the beginning of season 2007/08 the team were forced to uproot from its adopted home pitch at Gainsborough Sports Centre in Ipswich and were forced to find a new home that met the minimum ground standards for the Essex and Suffolk Border League Premier Division. A groundshare arrangement was agreed with Bury Town FC to use Ram Meadow as a home pitch.
To acknowledge their position in the local football community within Bury St Edmunds, a decision was made by the committee that ran the team, to change its name to Team Bury.
The first season in the Premier Division yielded an eighth place finish and although an application to join the Ridgeons League was submitted the eighth place achieved by the team did not meet the promotion criteria. The young team did win the Premier Division Fair Play Award.
Season 2008/08 again saw Team Bury submit an application and a successful season saw the team finish as runners up in the ESBL Premier Division. It was a close run thing with Team Bury and West Bergholt neck and neck for most of the campaign. In the end West Bergholt beat Team Bury in a crunch match towards the end of the season and went on to win the title by five points. However, Team Bury did have the consolation of winning the Fair Play Award for the second successive season.
In June 2009 Team Bury were duly elected to join the Ridgeons League Division One at the commencement of the 2009/10 season.
